| Karen Mitchell and Karen Witherspoon launched First & Lasting Impressions in 1998. Their previous ten years in the wedding industry with brides, bridal attire and creation, floral design, catering, as well as wedding and event planning, gave them a realistic grasp of a brides’ needs. It also opened their eyes to the limited resources and information for Multi-Cultural Brides and their needs. They realized that beyond the obvious requirements of a location, photographer, florist, and music, engaged women of multi-cultural backgrounds required additional information and tools in order to enjoy and effectively plan their wedding. They observed there was a need for someone to explain how the industry operates, help navigate through the complicated planning process, as well as finding culture specific items. They recognized that regardless of age, career, nationality, and socioeconomic status, the engaged woman’s experience of the wedding planning process seemed uncannily similar. As the wedding drew nearer, brides seemed unnecessarily frazzled, frustrated and completely overwhelmed. “You said yes...now let us do the rest!” Through input from brides, they began developing and providing brides the necessary information and assistance for a worry-free, seamless, exceptional, culturally rich wedding. With their enthusiastic, yet calming personalities and their gracious ability to listen, they lend objective emotional support when necessary. Additionally, their creativity makes them uniquely qualified to offer visual and creative direction in developing and implementing the details of this significant life time event. |
